The Challenge
The client was already investing heavily in paid advertising, with monthly spending on Meta Ads exceeding $500,000. While these campaigns were delivering consistent sales, the brand had not yet explored Google Ads as a growth channel. They recognized the opportunity to diversify their acquisition strategy and sought a scalable solution that could generate additional revenue while maintaining profitable customer acquisition costs.
The Strategy
Abhijatri developed a comprehensive Google Ads launch plan designed to capture demand across multiple stages of the customer journey.
The project began with the setup of a complete tracking and advertising infrastructure, including Google Ads, Google Merchant Center, Google Analytics, product feed integration, and conversion tracking. This ensured accurate performance measurement and data-driven optimization from day one.
With an initial monthly advertising budget of $10,000, we launched a combination of campaigns focused on both customer acquisition and revenue growth. The campaign structure included:
- Shopping campaigns targeting both prospecting and high-intent audiences
- Branded search campaigns to capture existing demand
- YouTube awareness campaigns promoting men’s and children’s collections
To maximize efficiency, the budget was strategically distributed across the different campaign types. Shopping campaigns received the largest share of investment, while branded search and YouTube campaigns supported conversion growth and brand visibility.
Additionally, brand-related search terms were excluded from prospecting campaigns to ensure budget was focused on attracting new customers while maintaining strong performance from high-intent audiences.
The Results
The Google Ads launch quickly exceeded expectations and became a highly profitable revenue channel for the business.
Shortly after the campaigns went live, the brand experienced significant improvements across key performance metrics:
- Overall Shopify revenue increased by 29%
- Total order volume grew by 46%
- Customer acquisition cost decreased by 4%
- New customer purchases increased by 56%
During the first month alone, Google Ads generated exceptional returns. With an ad spend of $10,667, the campaigns produced $170,940 in revenue, delivering a ROAS of 1,605%.
The account also achieved an impressive Media Efficiency Ratio (MER) of 11.1 while maintaining a first-time customer acquisition cost of just $13.52.
As performance continued to scale, Abhijatri gradually increased the monthly advertising budget to $25,000. Even at the higher spend level, the account maintained strong profitability, achieving a customer acquisition cost of $19.14 and a ROAS of 663%.
This case study demonstrates how a strategically structured Google Ads campaign can unlock substantial growth opportunities, even for established ecommerce brands already investing heavily in other advertising channels.
